Going through holiday assignment handed by my teacher ,yes tomorrow starts our much awaited summer vacation and as always going to spend the vacation at hometown staying at our ancestral house the last day of school before vacation is a fun day , teachers too busy distributing the holiday assignments and other works ,so no studies, sharing our holiday plans with friends also feeling sadness of not able to see each other for two months. a day at school passed swiftly, the last bell rang we shouted and ran from our classes with so excitement as if we were released from jail.
Reaching home both Dad and mom are busy packing and arranging things at home because we will be going for one and half month.
After finishing our packing we retired for our sleep but sleep evading me, dad and mom started snoring but my mind is on overdrive thinking about the train journey. My mind still making plans slowly, slowly the sleep engulfed me.
The alarm was set for 4 am as mom has to make and pack food for the journey. Iddli and tomato chutney along with lemon rice, Chappathi and dry sabji ready and placed on the dining table and fan in full speed to cool down the heat so that they can be packed.
I jumped from bed with excitement yes!!!! Summer vacation has started, the aroma of mom's yummy food has engulfed the house for me it's the smell of vacation and journey to my hometown.
Brushing my teeth, taking bath my parents smiling mischievously. Today they didn't have to drag me out from bed or push me to the bathroom. With giving the final touch to our packing we are almost done our auto has arrived to take us to the railway station. saying our byes to our neighbours we board the auto. we reach the station in 45 minutes. After collecting the information about train arrival we head to our platform. Platform full of travellers coming and going. we can find people from different cultures and their way of travelling.
It's vacation time and we can see rush and lots of happy people around with their backpacks waiting for the train. I along with my parents waiting for our train to arrive, seeing kids of my age so happy munching the chips, they too must have plans like me about how to spend the vacation. There I hear an announcement about the arrival of our train. We get ready with our bags the train halts for 10 minutes and within that time we have to board the train with our luggage also quite a good rush too. After finding our seats we got settled. As always I opt for a window seat. The train announces the departure with a whistle and after two minutes the train starts moving. My heart feels the pinch with the thought that for one and a half month I will not be able to see my home, my city, silently I say bye to my city. As I get settled on my seat I secretly open chips packet bought by my pocket money. Munching chips and also enjoying the scenery passing by the window, the mountains, animals grazing on an open field. Huts and kids playing. soon I realise its not a familiar route the train has taken. My dad explains that work is going on track so our train is running on another route. My heart jumps with joy now I will get to see new places, scenery. The journey is going to be exciting one my heart says.
